How This All Got Started

.

At age 10, a neighborhood friend named Greg King, came to the house of a young and inquisitive Ed Etzel.  Greg said "grab your sister's guitar, we're starting a band!!"  When Ed showed up he saw the other guitar player, Dicky Flagg, had wired a mic up to his guitar, prompting Ed to go home that day and build his first amplifier from scratch.  And...., the fun began!!

.

After a number of years playing with local garage bands, Ed finally got the opportunity to try out for, and was accepted as a member of, one of the top 4 bands in Northern California, Sugar Bare.  From 1973 through 1980, Sugar Bare entertained at an average of 150 shows a year with Ed playing both lead and rhythm guitar, as well as keys.

.

Over the years of playing in bands, Ed began gathering bits and pieces of outboard gear, mixing boards, mics, etc. and finally became known  as the "audio guy" as much as the guitar/keyboard player.

.

Having gathered everything needed,  in 1985, Ed began the operation of his concert sound and  light  company,  Audio West.  Throughout the State of California, Ed provided live sound for literally hundreds of local and national groups.

In the early 90's Ed expanded his operation to include audio and lighting for television and film.  Since that time,  Ed  provided  these services for a number of award winning productions and won an Emmy for Sound and Lighting in 2001.  His credits also include providing the audio for several other Emmy Award winning productions.

.

So..., what kind of audio is next?   A WORLD CLASS Recording Studio, which Ed opened January 1, 2004.

.

Along with all of the above, Ed is a Certified Industrial Electrician and has the education required to not only know how the equipment works, but WHY it works.
